Quran Instructor

Position Overview
This position will work directly with the Quran Academy Ustadh during class hours and in conjunction with other religious committee admins. The position will focus on teaching students how to read the basic Qaaidah and Quran with proper Tajweed as well as helping them in memorizing various Surahs. Successful candidates will meet all requirements in this listing and be able to fulfill requested services for ages 7 to 18 years old.
Responsibilities
- To dedicate three evenings per week, 2.5 hours per day to the program
- To arrive on time to class to receive students as they arrive to class
- To work with other teachers in class to ensure students are understanding, preparing and reciting lessons properly and in a timely and organized manner
- To ensure students are well-behaved during class sessions
- To demonstrate a firm understanding of Tajweed and Qaaidah content
- To work with the other teachers to conform to a similar teaching method for students to be able to be cross-learn between teachers
- To analyze student lessons and determine if a student is ready to proceed to the next lesson
- To maintain a steady line of communication with parents on a student’s behavior and progress
- To lead Salaah with jamaat, if necessary, in the absence of the Imam, and ensure the etiquette and composition of Salaah are instilled within students
- To dress appropriately for class
- To provide guidance and counsel to students
- To be a positive role model for students
- To establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents
- To work in a high stress environment and be able to effectively control student misbehavior
- To be able to attend meetings with Quran Academy admins if necessary
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of Tajweed rules and the ability to teach these to students
- Must be proficient in the English language
- Must demonstrate a sincere desire to teach, nurture and positively affect children
- Must have good health, high moral character, and a good attendance record.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Classroom instructional experience is preferred.
